Client overview

The challenge for the Me application was to facilitate a digital self-sovereign identity with which payments can be done safely and easily. For this, we integrated a digital identifier into the app, which can check the eligibility of its users for specific subsidies. In order to spend a subsidy, then, we developed a system that can generate a personalized QR-code for every individual payment.

Forus CTO Jamal Vleij explains that before the Me App, municipalities worked with “paper vouchers” or subsidy recipients had “to pay in advance” without knowing whether they “would get the refund at all.” With this outdated system, municipalities “had no insight in how, and if,” subsidy “money was spent.” Now, with the Me app, a subsidy recipient simply “shows a digital voucher (a QR-code) in a store, then the transfer will be done immediately from our software, which the shopkeeper usually receives within an hour.”
